Kindergarten (Early Years)
Located in their own well-conceived and well-organised classrooms within the Moshi and Arusha campuses, the kindergarten (early years centre) is a resource-based environment which provides opportunities for discovery across all curriculum areas. The Kindergarten caters for children aged from 3 to 5 years old. It is staffed by experienced personnel under the direction of the Head of Primary and works within the framework of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP is the curriculum developed by the internationally renowned and respected International Baccalaureate.
ISM kindergarten aims to:
-
provide experiences which support and stimulate a child's learning through active, hands-on activities and play,
-
provide access to a variety of learning experiences and materials,
-
create a safe and secure environment where each child feels confident, valued and secure,
-
promote each child's autonomy, independence and responsibility,
-
encourage children to express their ideas and creativity,
-
enable children to construct knowledge that helps them to make sense of the world.
We also offer:
- a fully equipped children's playground,
- a swimming pool staffed by qualified life-guards,
- a qualified nurse on duty throughout the day,
- use of a computer centre and library.
We recognise that each child develops in different ways at different rates. We believe that teaching must support each child's capacity to develop individual talents and abilities. We provide opportunities for hands-on, direct experiences to encourage active learning.
