Dear Parents: Men at ArmsCongratulations to all on last night's performance of Men at Arms at El Rancho. I am sorry to tell parents that all tickets for the Sunday night performance have been sold.Craft FayreMany, many thanks to all those who participated in the Craft Fayre, whether as Stall holders or buyers! We raised TSh 487,610/- which will all go towards roofing a second classroom for the primary school in the village of Materuni. Any more donations gratefully received! There was a great atmosphere on the lawns outside the classroom block and I think most people were happy to be involved. Special thanks to D1B, M3, M2, S5 and Primary for their fundraising efforts towards the CAS programme, also to Rina who forcibly collected money at the gate and to the many others behind the scenes who helped to make this such a successful occasion. - Sandra Riches (CAS Co-ordinator). M3 SurvivorsOn Monday and Tuesday, 17th & 18th December, M3 will be investigating "What do we need to survive?" by fending for themselves in the wilds of Tanzania! They will be joining with their M3 colleagues in Arusha Campus to undertake a culminating activity for the MYP work of the term. It should be fun and exciting for all students, and will serve as a great conclusion to their work this term.Parent AssociationThe Parent Association has had two committee meetings in the few weeks since its inauguration and they hope to be able to send out minutes and other details by email early this coming week.Parental ConcernsFrom time to time parents may have concerns concerning various aspects of the school. If these concern your child directly or relate to one particular area, it is best to first discuss the issue with the appropriate teacher as matters can often be resolved easily at that level. Should you subsequently wish to discuss the matter further, please approach the Head of Primary, Head of Secondary or Head of Boarding as appropriate. On more general school matters you are very welcome to discuss these with the Head of Campus. If you still believe that the matter is unresolved after this, then please arrange to discuss further with the CEO.In such a complex organisation as a school, mistakes do unfortunately happen and we do also benefit from the constructive feedback that parents provide. The best way to resolve any difficulties or concerns is to address them to the person or people most responsible for them and we hope that parents will feel comfortable in approaching us within the school. ABRSM Theory ExamsStudents who wish to register for the ABRSM theory examinations were asked to inform Mr Jones by Friday, 14th December. If you have missed this deadline, please give details to Mr Jones on Monday, 17th December, but no later. The exams will take place in Moshi (and Arusha) on Wednesday, 27th February.Boarders' Christmas DinnerOn Tuesday, 18th December, the boarding students will be celebrating the end of term with a special dinner designed to mark the Christmas / New Year holiday season.FeesI would like to remind all parents that the school fees for term two should have been received by the school before now. In the few cases where fees have not yet been received, we may need to ask students to remain at home next term or may need to withold school documentation such as reports. Please contact the school if you are concerned about your child's status in this regard.Secondary ReportsAll Secondary students in M1 to M4 and in D1 will receive full reports this term covering the period from August to December. Students in S5 and D2 (who received full reports in October) will receive a grade card only this month and will receive a full report in March.
