Arusha Campus News - 12th June 2009
Dear Parents,
Gymnastics and Dance
We had a great day today with our gymnastic display and dance fun. Thank you to Natalie Croome and Charles Schofield for organizing the event. Thank you to all the teachers and students for their participation. I would also like to thank those parents for brought in some baking for the students, the PA for providing some refreshments and Mary from the Bayleaf for her delicious carrot cake and Picasso Café for their extra ordinary tasting chocolate éclairs.
End of Term Arrangements
The last day of classes is on Wednesday, 17th June. This will be a half day with the final assembly at 11 am.

Students who are leaving need to ensure that all books and materials have been returned. Refundable deposits cannot be issued before the final say and only after all leaving procedures have been completed.
PA Appreciation Lunch
Thank you to the PA for providing the lunch for staff today. The food was excellent! I want to especially thank Loise for helping out with the set up of this event and for her help in the organization of many the events that are happening at school at the moment. She is an extraordinary person to have working at the school!
Primary Polo Shirts
From the start of next term in August, we will be requiring all primary students (kindergarten to P6) to wear an ISM Polo shirt when attending classes. These are available in a variety of colours and sizes from the receptionist, Loise, in the main office at a cost of TSh 20,000/- each. Please ensure that you have sufficient shirts for your child. We are pleased that our stock is now sufficient to re-introduce this requirement which lapsed in 2008/09 due to poor supply.
ABRSM Theory Exams
The next set of music theory examinations will be held in Arusha on 30th September. Parents of students who wish to register must email me directly at adrianm@ismac.ac.tz before the end of this term on 17th June. Please note that I can only take registrations for upcoming examinations and parents need to confirm registration for later examinations when they are announced.
Lost and Found
There are many items in the lost and found at the moment. Please check over the next few days as we will be giving away items that are not collected by the end of Wednesday.

Primary News

Dear Parents,
Thank you
We would like to thank all those parents who attended your childs Parent, Teacher, Child Conference yesterday. It was a valuable time spent reflecting on achievements and identifying goals for next year.
P6 Dinner
A truly enjoyable evening was had by our P6 students and teachers as we celebrated the completion of their primary years. The certificates students received from their teachers on behalf of their peers were appreciated and enjoyed. The power point presentation highlighted some of the memorable experiences the students have had together. We wish the P6 students every success in M1.
Absence
Due to unforseen circumstances Mr. Marcello Mongardi has had to fly to New Jersey to be with his family. Both Samantha and the baby are in good health! In his absence Mr. Alli Abd-el Rashid will be working with the students in his class. We wish Marcello and Samantha a safe arrival of their second child and look forward to seeing them all when they return safely in July.
Word Shark / Number Shark
This is a request to parents in our community who have personal copies of either Word Shark or Number Shark and would like to sell them. Please contact me if you are wanting to sell your CD to another family in our ISM community. . Much appreciated!
Library Books
A reminder that all library books need to be returned to the library before the close of school next Wednesday.
21:21 Documentary Film
On Monday our P5 students will be participating in a documentary project being coordinated by Mr. Patrick Newell. The aim of this documentary is to engage the students in relevant learning related to "Coexisting with our Planet" with a focus on sustainability and water. Mr. Newell and his team of film makers will spend the day of Monday the 15th June at ISM - AC working with the P5 students. This project is well timed for us as the P5's are currently working on the unit of inquiry called "Waste Matters" which has very natural connections to the focus of this project.
P6/M1 Transition Day
On Monday 15th June our P6 students will spend the day in Secondary having a taster of what it will feel like next year. Very exciting!
Whole School Assembly
A reminder that you are all welcome to share in our final end of year assembly on Wednesday 17th June at 11.00am We will celebrate and congratulate our P6 students at this assembly and hand them over to secondary!!!
Postcards from around the world!
In preparation for next years units of inquiry our P1/2 class would like to invite families who are traveling outside of Arusha to send the class postcards. A display board will be made using these postcards and form a resource for their units of inquiry abut people moving around the world and the different ways people express themselves.

You can send your postcards to:
