The student council organized a very successful whole-school Spirit week as you can in the pictures below. Not only a fun week where we all took risks, but also a valuable reminder that we take every opportunity to bring young and old together. The week culminated in a Sports Day with Blues edging victory over the Greens and Yellows!!Technology Department - Virus/Spyware (Carl Love)
Parents/Students - please, the most basic maintenance that everyone should plan for with their computer technology is spyware and virus protection.- make sure your virus updates are current, update/check every day or two - do not be afraid to use more than one spyware program (ie. AdAware, Spybot, etc.) - most are free, and none are 100% effective - do a virus scan every day or two I realize these actions are a bit extreme, but better safe than sorry in my personal opinion. ... Let me now if you have any questions or comments ( ) Peace House with Shawna Spady
The Peace House CCA invited students from Peace House to ISM for an afternoon of swimming, ultimate Frisbee and Doctor Dodgeball. ISM students enthusiastically introduced students from Peace House into our swimming pool for the first time for games of water poo, taught them to throw Frisbees correctly as well as throw soft balls with speed and accuracy. Thank you to ISM students for planning and organizing this fantastic afternoon, to Peace House students for coming, and Nafisa Mohamedali for making fabulous lemongrass juice. And have a wonderful break and see you all refreshed very soon!! Regards Éanna O'Boyle Head of Secondary Primary NewsLooking back!
WOW! what a very exciting and busy quarter we have just completed. The Student Council 'Spirit Week' initiative was a huge success and supported by most members of our school community. Feedback from some of the students was that they really enjoyed seeing the teachers dressing up. I really enjoyed the 'Twin Day' it was a fantastic display of open minded thinking, risk taking and creativity! A very big thank you to all our parents for supported your children's enthusiastic participation in such a wonderful week.We would like to farewell our student teacher: Miss Rachel Dehmer who returns to the U.S. to complete her teacher training. Rachel has very successfully completed her 9 week teaching practice. During this time Rachel has grown in confidence and understanding of what 'best practice' teaching and learning looks like at ISMAC. Our students have benefited from her knowledge. We wish Rachel every success in her teaching career. P3/4 Publishing Party
What a fantastic parent turn out!. The big smiles on our student's faces as they read their published books to small groups was an indication that they were very proud of their work.PYP Evaluation Self Study Team Meetings
A big thank you! To our teachers, parent representatives, students and teaching assistants who participated in this week's meetings. Clarifications were made, knowledge shared and ideas flowed. The next round of meetings are as follows:
Primary Production
At the end of last school year, we as a primary team organized our third units of inquiry to coincide with the presentation of a production centered coincidentally around the theme of 'The Circus'.Our P3/4 students through their unit of inquiry titled: Setting the Stage will be taking the lead in script writing, directing and producing, designing and making props and costumes, special effects, set design, choreography and dance. We are aware that most of our students have already visited the circus and we would like to encourage those that have not attended to do so where possible. Have a wonderfully relaxing break! Regards Betty Brown Head of Primary and PYP Coordinator Parent Workshop - Assessment
October 7th 2009We would like to thank those parents who attended our second parent workshop for the year. A special treat for those who attended was the parade of primary and secondary classes as part of the ISMAC Student Council Spirit Week - 'Twin Day' initiative. The objective of this Assessment workshop was to share what the following points mean and look like at ISMAC: What is assessment? Why we assess? Who is involved in the assessment process? How we assess? When do we assess? We achieved these objectives through discussion, hands on paper airplane making, sharing of formative and summative assessment tasks for our students as well as sharing what assessment and reporting looks like at ISMAC. If you missed this workshop and would like to know more about what we shared please feel free to make a time to chat with one of us or come and collect a 'reporting to parents' assessment. Much fun was had by all - Don't miss the next one! Steve Brown ,Betty Brown, Eanna O'Boyle MYP Coordinator, PYP Coordinator, Head of Secondary | Available on the web...
