Dear Parents, I am writing this newsletter as the P1/2, P3/4 and P5/6 classes are about to move into the final week of their second Unit of Inquiry of this academic year. This means that the third Unit of Inquiry will begin on Monday 12th November and before the unit begins the Moshi and Arusha teachers that teach these classes will have a joint planning day. This planning day will be next Friday 9th November at the Arusha campus and Janien Mainwaring, Patricia van Aarst and myself will teach the three classes for the day. Please be informed that throughout the year the grade level teachers from Moshi and Arusha will meet in advance of the beginning of the next Unit of Inquiry. The fourth planning session will be on Monday 14th January, then Friday 15th February and finally Monday 7th April. These joint planning days provide the teachers with an opportunity to work alongside grade level partners to share ideas and resources. Celebrations StatementOver the last two years and more, there have been occasions when families have had birthday celebrations for their children and certain students from the class have been left out. Whilst we realise that it is your prerogative to invite whoever you wish to your homes we would ask you to consider the feelings of those students who have, and do, get left out. In view of this the Moshi and Arusha primary teachers have put together a Celebrations Statement, which is attached to this newsletter for your information. Please read the contents very carefully.HatsPlease be advised that all students must have a hat in school for break times, outdoor P.E. lessons and outdoor clubs. Please note that from Monday next week, (5th November); students who do not have a hat for these times will have to remain in the shaded areas.Student/Parent/Teacher ConferenceA letter was sent to all families on Tuesday 14th August 2007 entitled ‘Reporting to Parents at ISM Primary School’, which detailed all reporting to parent for this academic year. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that there will be a Student/Parent/Teacher Conference day on Thursday 29th November. These conference days are non-teaching days where you and your child attend school for a one hour conference in your child’s class. The primary assistants are on duty to supervise students whilst their parent is in the conference of another child of the family but they are not there to provide a day’s child minding. If any student is left at the school outside their conference time then the parents will be called to come to collect the child.Primary Assembly RotaPlease find attached yet another updated Assembly rota for this half term. I have called this the FINAL rota for this half term and I certainly hope it is! You will notice that there are a few changes to the rota sent last Thursday by e-mail. The reason for the changes is that the Sports Day was planned for Friday 30th November, which I am reliably informed is the board meeting day. Apologies for any confusion caused.Class Contribution to the NewsletterThis week it is the P1/2 class that has contributed to the Newsletter.I hope you have a great weekend. Kind regards Kathy Slocombe Head of Primary |
