Moshi Primary News - 30th May 2008
Dear Parents,

Three weeks ago we hosted the Inter-School Swimming Gala and 7-a-side Football Tournament here in Moshi. I have already informed you about the student's wonderful performance on May 10th but today I would like to pay my ‘Thanks'to Hannelore Gerstenkorn and her ‘Assistants'who served Coffee and Cakes throughout the day. They raised a total of Tsh127,500 which was donated to the Primary School and subsequently used towards the purchase of some reading books for the P1/2 class. The students in Narelle's class will enjoy these new books next year and we are very grateful that the money was raised and could be used in this way.
P1/2 Overnight Camp
Last night Narelle, Grace, Bibiana, Soloman and the P1/2 class spent the night camping at the Guest House at TPC. I hear that they did not get too wet but they did have rather an early start to the day!! I am sure the experience was a great one for all concerned and that they all sleep well tonight.
Narelle has asked me to include a request for parents to check whether their child has taken Jack's swimming goggles home by mistake. Please check carefully!
Assembly Rota
Today we had the P5 assembly which presented a very important message to us all related to their current unit of inquiry ‘Waste Matters'. Thank you to David, and the P5 students for all their hard work. Below I have detailed the assemblies that are still in store up to the end of term.
  • 4/6/2008 - P6 Exhibition to parents and invited guests - P6 students (and Mrs. Slocombe)
  • 5/6/2008 - P6 Exhibition to whole school - P6 students (and Mrs. Slocombe)
  • 6/6/2008 - Primary End of Year Assembly - Ms. Rosi
  • 11/6/2008 - Whole School Assembly at 9.35am - Special Certificates to be awarded - Mr. Sutherland & Mrs. Slocombe
End of Year Reports and Portfolios
The end of year reports and portfolios will be going home with students on Tuesday June 3rd. However, P6 will take their reports and portfolios home on Monday June 9th so that I can comment upon their individual presentations during the exhibition and so that the students can complete their reflections on the whole exhibition process and include work from the exhibition in their portfolio too.
Teachers will be available after school on Thursday if any parent wishes to talk about their child's report. Please contact your child's teacher direct to make an appointment to talk with them.
End of Year Picnic at TPC - Tuesday 10th June 10am to 2pm
As I have already informed you the end of year celebration day will be at the home of Pascale Wiehe-Lagesse at TPC. I have sent this newsletter as a hard copy so that I could include a cut off slip for parents to return stating whether they would be attending the picnic or not. If you have already returned this slip then I have the numbers but please inform me on the slip below whether you are attending this picnic and whether you can help with transporting students and parents to TPC on that day if you have not already done so. If I do not get a slip from a family I will assume that you are not intending to participate in the picnic on that day.

Curriculum Corner
The Curriculum Corner, compiled by Ms. Rosi is also attached for your enjoyment.

Kind regards
Mrs. Kathy Slocombe
Head of Primary
