US College Entry Tests
TOEFL, PSAT and SAT

International School Moshi is one of only two testing centers in Tanzania for the SAT and TOEFL tests required for entry to universities and colleges in North America.

TOEFL ISM is one of two test centers in Tanzania for the Paper-Based TOEFL test (the other is at IST in Dar es Salaam). This test is a Test of English as a Foreign Language and should be taken by any non-native English speaker wishing to study in North America. Universities or colleges in a few other countries may also require this test.

Where?: Moshi Campus. Test Center: E222

When?: Saturday, 8 November 2008
              Saturday, 9 May 2009

Cost?: US$150

Registration: To register online to take either the paper-based test (in Moshi) go to TOEFL Registration Online (you will need a credit card).
If you are an ISM student and do not have access to a credit card, see the Head of Campus for help with online payment. Please register at least 6 weeks before the test date.

Notes:Standby registration is NOT available for TOEFL tests. All candidates MUST bring their current passport to be admitted to the test; Tanzanian citizens may alternatively bring a driving license. No other form of identification is acceptable.
TOEFL tests are currently available in two formats. A paper-based test will be available in Moshi in November 08 and May 09, or in Dar es Salaam in August, October, November 08 and January, May 09. Internet-based testing is available in Dar es Salaam, Nairobi or Thika on most weekdays.

Further Information: Further information on the test, including sample test materials, is available on the TOEFL website. Practice for TOEFL is available by clicking here.
The   TOEFL bulletin for 2007-08 is available for download in pdf format (1.7Mb) - at the time of writing the 2008-09 bulletin was not yet available.

Candidates for SAT or TOEFL who are not ISM students may collect paper registration materials in person from the College Guidance Counsellor at ISM in Moshi, but will need to arrange their own registration using either a credit card or US bank check. Online registration is recommended.

The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is designed to give students experience and practice at undertaking a test similar to the actual SAT Reasoning test (see below).
