In August 2000 United States President Bill Clinton was invited to northern Tanzania by Nelson Mandela to witness the signing of the Burundi Peace Accord. Whilst here he also signed an Open Skies Agreement between The United States and Tanzania. A group of our IB2 students were lucky enough to be invited to Kilimanjaro airport to witness this event.
Also present at the ceremony were President Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania and a number of other African leaders.
