Teach Music at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro!

TEACH AN INSTRUMENT ON THE SLOPES OF AFRICA'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN
A UNIQUE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR 2006!

Mount KilimanjaroInternational School Moshi is the leading school of northern Tanzania, operating two campuses in the towns of Arusha and Moshi. Our Moshi campus, on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, has over 230 students aged 3-19 from forty different countries, of whom about sixty are boarders. We offer courses up to IGCSE and International Baccalaureate.
We have an large number of students wanting to play a musical instrument, and many of them opt to take the ABRSM examinations, for which the school is a recognised centre. Instrumental teachers are not easy to come by in Tanzania, so for that reason we are offering the opportunity detailed below. It will appeal to someone wanting six months or a year working with music in a unique and beautiful environment.

We want someone - or a pair of friends - for instrumental tuition. You should have reached at least grade 8 standard on an instrument and be willing to teach that instrument to individuals or small groups. You should also be able to teach a second instrument and, of course, enjoy working with children of all ages and nationalities. You will want to motivate and encourage and to take a full part in the school's flourishing music programme.

We can offer free self-contained accommodation at the school, and all meals in term-time and you will be able to earn some pocket money for local expenses through individual tuition. We can also offer free medical treatment from the school nurse and doctor but you will need to take out insurance to cover major risks. You will have the chance to take part in the full life of the school, including swimming, tennis and other sports. Horse-riding is available and also our Outdoor Pursuits programme offers weekend expeditions on Kilimanjaro and other mountains. There are also opportunities to visit northern Tanzania's unrivalled National Parks and of course in the school holidays you are free to travel to Zanzibar, Kenya and even further afield.

You will need to pay your own return fare and any insurance you feel you need. (We can give advice about these matters and perhaps help you find a cheap ticket.)

We can offer vacancies for one or two people from August 2006 to June 2007. A shorter period of up to six months or an earlier period could be considered.
