Information: Display What is IT? What is DT? - Search Engine Use

Information: Introduction Activity Who am I? - Scanner, digital camera, graphics, text format, word art / clip art.

Systems: Child’s Toy with Word processing - Basics: highlighting, editing, formatting. DT: construction of novelty cards, simple toys

Systems: Solar Oven with Presentation - Methods of presentation. DT: construction of solar ovens, work and use in communities

Materials: Fashion Show design with Graphics - Bitmaps, vector diagrams, inputting, changing and editing. DT: construction of fashion wear

Systems: How things work - A unit exploring how different devices operate - design book drawing & project.

Information: Typing - Type to learn: position, speed, accuracy.

Information: Computer Issues 1 - Computers in shops, privacy and safety, the wrong websites.


M2 Systems: Systems & Procedures - System review: server, file saving, computer centre rules, housekeeping, Design Cycle

Information: Spreadsheets - Parts of a spreadsheet, basic calculations, functions and formulae, relative and absolute cell reference, charts and models

Information: FrontPage - Rules of design, text, tables, pictures, links, animations, website design

Information: Desktop Publishing - Design, frames, templates, team work

Information: Using the internet - Searching, fact and opinion, data collection

Systems: Kindergarten Game - Advanced: tables, borders, columns, headers, footers, multi-page documents, spell check, templates

Information: Typing - Type to Learn: position, speed and accuracy

Systems: Computer Issues 2 - Computer Applications (weather, traffic, airports), computers at school and work, how data is collected. Students choose the applications for a specific project.


M3 Systems: Systems & Procedures - Systems review: server, file saving, computer centre rules, housekeeping, Design Cycle.

Information: Databases - Parts of a database, Excel / Access, flat file database, relational database, tables, report, form, query, exporting data from an Excel spreadsheet, Spreadsheet as a database.

Information: HTML - Designs of websites

Materials / Systems: Timing Device - Students create a timing device using the design cycle.

Information: Typing - Type to Learn: position, speed and accuracy

Information: Computer Issues 3 - Applications: Gantt charts to manage a project, data logging, computer and the law. The Internet. Intellectual property of video / DVD copy right.

Culminating Activity: Students choose the applications for a specific project


M4 Information: Word processing v desktop publishing - Word processing applications & desktop publishing applications

Information: Spreadsheet software

Materials: Spanning a gap - Students use the design cycle to span a gap using provided materials.

Information: Video editing - Students edit a video created for lifeskills class

Information: Theory - Communication and the Internet. Components of an information system. Input/output devices. Storing data. System analysis and design / design cycle (MYP). Theory associated with the software and hardware in units.


M5 Information: Flash - Creation of video using Flash player

Information: Database software - Database creation for a client.

Systems: Website authoring - Website creation

Systems: Theory - Networks. Effects of IT. The ways IT is used. Theory of the software and hardware in units.
