The school owns a clifftop house above a beach near Pangani on the Indian Ocean coast which is used as a field study centre for groups of students. Our S2 classes from both Moshi and Arusha campuses undertook a field trip to Pangani in November 1999.
During their stay the students examine coastal features including the rock formations along the coastline and the mangrove swamps. They also undertake a number of meaurements on the beach.
There is also time for leisure and the evening is used for students to prepare a dramatic presentation on one of the social issues they have been studying in Pangani.
The students undertake some surveys and examine the buildings and environment of the ancient Pangani town, which has a legacy of Arab, German and British colonial rule as well as a history steeped in slavery.
